McLaren Vale Water Plan
The McLaren Vale Water Plan is a program designed to help small to medium growers (vines, olives, cut flowers) to switch from potable water (mains water) to reclaimed water for irrigation purposes.
This is achieved by providing a full subsidy for the On Farm recycled water connection ($11,000) and 50% of the water access fee ($1,100/ ML). The grower will pay the other 50% over a six year period. The money for these subsides has been made available by both the Commonwealth Government through the Water for the Future Fund ($3.5mill) and the State Government ($990,000).
The funding is provided to MVGWTA who formed a Steering Group to manage and administer the project. The Steering Group, using a set of criteria set out by both the Commonwealth and State governments, assesses applications then distributes the funds out to successful applicants.
