Small Winemakers celebrate McLaren Vale Scarce Earth Shiraz 2010
Small Winemakers and their Scarce Earth
To celebrate the last month of the 2010 Scarce Earth launch a small group of boutique winemakers have banded together to present their 2010 Single Vineyard Wines to the public.
For the month of July the wineries of Hastwell & Lightfoot, Shirvington, Vignabottin and WayWood Wines, none of which have their own cellar door will be hosting the Scarce Earth Experience at the McLaren Vale Visitors Centre Cellar Door.
Their four Scarce wines, each from different districts will be on display daily from 11am-3pm, also available will be a rolling selection of wines from the wineries own portfolio’s.
To help promote this project, Scarce Earth information and display will be on show, please pop along, taste the wines and find out more about this exciting McLaren Vale initiative.
MCLAREN VALE SCARCE EARTH - 550 MILLION YEARS OF HISTORY IN EVERY DROP
In McLaren Vale things happen … but not by chance. The region’s passionate wine producers are amongst the most cohesive in Australia, banding together, getting their hands dirty and achieving some incredible feats in the process, proving that two heads really are better than one.
It’s these dedicated producers that now have industry peers and wine lovers alike looking at their region through different eyes.
When it comes to McLaren Vale’s flagship, Shiraz, its producers have shifted the focus from the precious vines behind this bold, full-bodied red to the Scarce Earth in which they’re grown. And with geology dating back 550 million years, it’s not surprising McLaren Vale is a global powerhouse when it comes to Shiraz.
McLaren Vale is the place to be each May, June and July so you can be one of the lucky ones to sample the single block 2010 shiraz specially selected by McLaren Vale wineries to be part of Scarce Earth.
These wines have passed three expert tasting panels to ensure they reflect their sense of place and express their true fruit characters.
For the next 3 months, Scarce Earth will only be available from 20 wineries in McLaren Vale. With some wineries only producing as little as 30 dozen, take the opportunity to taste these wines now to avoid missing out.
Look for the unique neck label which is only available on the 2009 and 2010 McLaren Vale Scarce Earth shiraz.
