Judging is under way for the 2011 MADEC Outstanding Cellar Door Person of the Year competition!
The Outstanding Cellar Door Person of the Year competition has been held annually in McLaren Vale for over 25 years. With over 65 cellar doors, the region places great importance on the Cellar Door community and the crucial role it plays as the face of McLaren Vale.
Judging for the Awards is conducted during July, August and September in a ‘mystery shopper’ style by independent individuals who have a good understanding of sales and service in Cellar Doors. Judging criteria ranges from cleanliness and personal presentation, through to product knowledge and tourism knowledge of the entire region.
The winner of the Outstanding Cellar Door Person Award is given a Trophy to display in their Cellar Door, and a $1,500 contribution towards an educational visit to another region.
The Outstanding Cellar Door Person of the Year will be announced on Wednesday 26th October 2011 at the annual “Celebrating the Face of Cellar Door” formal dinner by a MADEC representative, and again at the McLaren Vale Winemakers Bushing King Luncheon, another high profile annual event for over 500 people.
