Since opening in 1979, Maxwell Wines have built a reputation for making exceptional red & white wines of impeccable quality. As a premium boutique producer, our emphasis is on creating wines that reflect the unique qualities of the south facing solid limestone hill on which the winery and vineyards stand.
The Maxwell family is also famous for their Maxwell Mead – wines made not from grapes but from pure South Australian honey. Mead is the oldest fermented beverage known to mankind, with many styles being enjoyed over thousands of years across many different cultures. Today, Maxwell Mead is Australia’s favourite honey wine, and our Meads are considered international benchmarks.
Visitors to the Maxwell winery have the opportunity to view a working winery, with the cellar door overlooking our unique open fermenters. An open fireplace, and large picture windows, make a delightful setting whatever the season. Combined with our Function Room, the space is both inviting and versatile for weddings and events... Plus the adjacent large outside deck is perfect for alfresco dining; our Restaurant is open for lunch Fridays to Sundays, and Public Holidays. Visit the winery soon to try our unique honey wines, and to experience food and wine of the highest quality.
